EAYS 2024 Welcomes the submission of student work for publishing, which will occur post-summit. It is a rare opportunity that students studying at the secondary or even undergraduate level will get their academic and artistic works published and recognized. For this reason, we call on the below forms of media submission!

For awards and recognition during the summit, submit your piece by 11:59 p.m. U.S. Eastern Daylight Time (UTC-4) of July 23.
Research Papers
​Topic: Any papers with topics regarding issues in East Asia or the Asian American experience are welcome for submission. This could include but is not limited to:

Cultural Arts

Cultural Development

History
-
Economics
-
Politics
Criteria:
-
Suggested word count: at least 1000 words and less than 5000.

​Of course, our value of "enough to prove your argument" stands and if you can produce a longer and shorter paper that eloquently addresses what you need to, we will accept it!

They should be well-cited, quality work that adds to the research field in the area. For most papers pertaining to history, social sciences, and political science, Chicago is preferred.

MLA and APA citations are also acceptable.

Plagiarism of other scholars' work and use of large language models (for example: ChatGPT 4) are expressly prohibited. By submitting a piece, you agree to adhere to these principles of fundamental academic integrity.

General Expectations:​

Acknowledges and adds to the depth of the current academic landscape within your research area.

Present, analyze, and create an original argument about East Asian and Asian American issues.

Employ proper diction, syntax, mechanics, and logical flow: make it stylistically pleasing to read!

Papers will be judged according to thoroughness of research, quality of writing, and insightfulness of analysis.

​Topic: While there is more flexibility and room for creative thought in the below types of media, students should bear in mind that the submission should pertain to if not centered on East Asian or Asian American social issues and experiences.
Films and documentaries should be limited to 1.5 hours. These may be sent as a shareable YouTube link or uploaded as an .mp4 file.

Topic: While there is more flexibility and room for creative thought in the below types of media, students should bear in mind that the submission should pertain to if not centered on East Asian or Asian American social issues and experiences.
Creative writing and other forms also welcome. While the academic integrity policy regarding originality apply, there are no other restrictions on form. The length should not exceed 5000 words (don't write a novel!) unless expressly communicated and permitted.
